The SKEP Coordination Unit wishes all its partners a peaceful, restful and merry festive season break. After all, you deserve some rest from the hard and fantastic work you are doing in the Succulent Karoo! 2014 has indeed been a very eventful year for the SKEP partnership, not short of challenges and noteworthy achievements.
Our NGO partners - Conservation South Africa (CSA), Indigo Development and Change, Environmental Monitoring Group, the Endangered Wildlife Trust, and WWF-SA to mention but few - have been hard at work on a range of innovative projects. . We have witnessed the strengthening of institutional capacity in our partner organisations, a highlight being the permanent appointment of Groen Sebenza pioneers at the Northern Cape Department of Environment and Nature Conservation (DENC). And after many years the Knersvlakte has finally been proclaimed as a nature reserve.
Thank you for the amazing work you do. May we have another prosperous year in 2015, as there is much more in store for the Succulent Karoo Ecosystem Programme, guided by the SKEP Vision that states, "The people of the Succulent Karoo take ownership of and enjoy their unique living landscape in a way that maintains biodiversity and improves livelihoods now and into perpetuity."
