The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) World Conservation Congress is the world’s largest conservation event. Held every four years, it aims to improve how the natural environment is managed for human, social and economic development. The World Conservation Congress 2012 was recently held in September on Jeju Island in the Republic of Korea.
On the 4th and 5th of October, Conservation South Africa (CSA) and Indigo Development and Change (Indigo) hosted a workshop on Community-based adaptation to climate change as part of the CitiGroup funded Skeppies Building Resilience to Climate Change Programme.
Twenty one individuals and institutions recently received awards for their outstanding contribution to the maintenance of biodiversity in the Eden District. The Gouritz Cluster Biosphere Reserve (GCBR) Awards were handed over at a gala dinner at the Garden Route Game Lodge near Albertinia on the 30th of October for the GCBR to honour and appreciate the persons, organisations and individuals who have made a substantial contribution to the GCBR’s first year of existence.
